Job Overview

Scherer Construction is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects from concept through completion. This role is responsible for project planning, cost control, scheduling, subcontractor management, and ensuring the highest levels of safety and quality. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with extensive experience in commercial construction who can drive projects to success while maintaining strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage commercial construction projects from pre-construction to closeout.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and local building officials.
  • Interpret construction plans and determine material costs and labor needs.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and permitting requirements.
  • Develop project schedules and coordinate the work of subcontractors and specialty trades.
  • Negotiate contracts and oversee the procurement of materials and labor.
  • Control project budgets and prevent cost overruns through detailed tracking and forecasting.
  • Manage and oversee superintendent performance, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to project timelines.
  • Prepare and submit invoices, subcontract agreements, and client documentation to maintain cash flow.
  • Oversee enforcement of Scherer Construction and OSHA safety standards on-site at all times.
  • Resolve construction challenges, delays, or emergencies as they arise.
  • Conduct project closeout activities, including punch list completion and final inspections.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in commercial construction project management.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, contracts, and regulations.
  • Proficiency with project management software, including job costing, scheduling, and estimating tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as Associate Constructor (AC), Certified Professional Constructor (CPC), or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) are a plus.
