Job Overview

Wolf Creek Landscape Services LLC is looking for a skilled Tractor Operator/Mechanic to join our team. This role involves operating agricultural tractors, medium-duty trucks, and various equipment such as skid steers and small wheel loaders. You will be responsible for mowing county roadsides and highways, handling large-area and rough mowing with up to 20' batwing mowers. This position requires travel Monday - Friday, with lodging provided and a daily per diem for food. Work begins in early May through October 2025, with occasional opportunities for weekend work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate ag tractors, skid steers, small wheel loaders, and similar equipment.
  • Mow county roadsides, highways, and large areas using batwing mowers up to 20 feet.
  • Travel weekly (Monday - Friday) with occasional local work in Coopersville, MI.
  • Ensure safe transportation and operation of equipment, securing loads to DOT specifications.
  • Perform basic mechanical diagnostics and repairs on equipment.
  • Read and follow mapped routes efficiently.
  • Assist with seasonal landscaping tasks, including installing plant material, mulch, irrigation, retaining walls, and paver patios.
  • Maintain a clean and organized vehicle, trailer, and equipment.
  • Work in various weather conditions and provide your own weatherproof clothing and boots.
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols and assist in enforcement.
  • Be cross-trained in other company divisions, such as lawn care, maintenance, and snow/ice management for year-round opportunities.

Qualifications
  • Experience operating compact and midsize tractors, light and medium-duty trucks, and towing trailers.
  • Ability to safely attach, park, and detach trailers.
  • Mechanical aptitude - ability to diagnose and perform minor repairs.
  • Physically fit - able to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in variable conditions.
  • Time management skills - complete daily tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented.
  • Must possess a Chauffeur's license or obtain one upon hire.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Non-smoking policy - no smoking in company vehicles or equipment.

Work Schedule
  • Full-Time / Seasonal
  • Monday - Friday (10-12 hour shifts)
  • 50+ hours per week expected
