Job Overview:

J&J Excavating & Trucking Inc. is seeking a Civil Superintendent to oversee and manage our civil construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. In this role, you'll lead crews, coordinate with subcontractors, enforce safety regulations, and keep projects moving efficiently. We need someone with field experience, but we're willing to train the right candidate in our company's processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, supervise, and direct field crews on civil construction projects.
  • Manage all on-site activities to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Oversee all aspects of excavation, utility installation, and demolition work.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and project managers to ensure work meets specifications.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing OSHA and trench safety regulations.
  • Review and approve project plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and specifications.
  • Conduct daily site inspections to ensure quality control and compliance.
  • Train and mentor crew members on safety protocols and best practices.
  • Maintain open communication with project stakeholders and provide regular updates on project progress.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve job site challenges efficiently.
  • Travel as needed for out-of-town projects (lodging and dinner covered).

Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of experience in civil construction (civil utilities experience preferred).
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
  • Certifications: OSHA 10 safety training, trench safety certification preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with construction management tools and techniques.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in all weather conditions and perform physical labor.
  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license required.
