Job Overview

Motor City Landscaping Design Build is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and oversee our landscape construction projects from start to finish. This role will focus on both hardscape (masonry, pavers, retaining walls, patios) and softscape (grading, drainage, and water management) practices. The ideal candidate is highly organized, experienced in landscape construction, and has a track record of managing crews, budgets, and schedules while delivering high-quality outdoor spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage landscape construction projects, ensuring successful execution from start to finish
  • Plan and coordinate hardscape elements such as footings, masonry, pavers, retaining walls, and patios
  • Supervise softscape tasks including grading, drainage, land movement, and water management
  • Develop, track, and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and scopes of work
  • Manage on-site crews, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to deadlines
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, local codes, and permit requirements
  • Coordinate material procurement, deliveries, and equipment logistics
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to design plans
  • Proactively identify and resolve project challenges
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, designers, and stakeholders
  • Provide accurate project reporting and updates to senior management

Qualifications
  • 5 or more years of experience in landscape construction, specifically in hardscape and softscape projects
  • Strong knowledge of masonry, pavers, retaining walls, grading, and drainage solutions
  • Proficiency with construction project management software such as BuilderTrend, Procore, or similar
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans
  • Experience creating and managing project schedules, budgets, and scopes
  • Familiarity with local codes, permits, and safety regulations
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Fertilizer License (preferred)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Landscape Professional (CLP) or similar certification
  • OSHA 30-hour certification
  • ICPI (Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute) certification
  • Erosion and Sediment Control Certification
  • Experience with site surveying and resource allocation

Schedule & Work Location
  • Full-time position
  • Monday through Friday with occasional weekend work as needed

Work location: Metro Detroit area (on-site at various residential and commercial project locations)
