Job Overview:

Blue Water Builders, Inc. is seeking a Project Accountant to oversee financial operations, accounting processes, and office administration. This role is essential in ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing vendor relationships, and supporting construction project financials. The ideal candidate will have a background in construction accounting, strong organizational skills, and experience working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities Include, but Are Not Limited To:
  • Accounting & Financial Management:
    • Process checks requests and expense reports on a regular basis.
    • Accurately review, code, and process vendor invoices, pay applications, and waivers.
    • Perform monthly reconciliations, audits, and process credit card bills.
    • Maintain vendor accounts while ensuring compliance with company policies.
    • Address and respond to vendor inquiries, reconcile invoice discrepancies.
    • Handle job cost accounting, prepare owner draws, collect payments, and manage subcontractor compliance.
    • Create and review owner contracts to ensure proper accounting requirements.
    • Generate monthly waivers and waiver requests, verify supplier/tier waivers for accuracy.
    • Complete monthly AP entry and reconcile entries against sworn statements.
    • Work closely with Project Managers on contract commitments, change requests, budget revisions, change orders, anticipated costs, and variance reports to ensure projects stay on time and within budget.
    • Perform project month-end close procedures.
  • Office Administration & Support:
    • Order and maintain office supplies, safety inventory, and company apparel for the main office.
    • Maintain and assist with service-related vendors related to office functionality (copiers, phone systems, cleaning services, etc.).
    • Review and respond to general company emails.
    • Assist with special event planning and ordering catering as needed.
    • Support new employee onboarding and orientation as needed.
    • Organize and upload important project documentation.

The Ideal Candidate Should Possess:
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in cost accounting (preferably in the construction industry).
  • Strong knowledge of job cost accounting and experience with construction financial reporting.
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Procore, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • ComputerEase knowledge is a plus.
