Job Overview
Webb Construction Inc. is seeking an experienced and analytical Accounting & Job Costing Specialist to lead the company's financial operations with precision, insight, and strategic oversight. As a key member of our leadership team, the Controller will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and compliance. This is a remote role that offers flexibility with a preference for candidates in the Eastern Time Zone to align with operational workflows. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of construction accounting, sharp attention to detail, and a passion for improving processes and systems as our company scales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage the company's accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and job costing.
  • Maintain financial controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal policies.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and forecasts for leadership and ownership.
  • Drive the annual budgeting process and implement financial models that support strategic planning.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for operational improvement.
  • Lead and mentor accounting staff (internal and/or outsourced), ensuring high standards of performance and accuracy.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and department heads to ensure accurate job costing and reporting.
  • Manage external audits, banking relationships, insurance compliance, and tax filings.
  • Optimize accounting systems and software to improve reporting and efficiency (experience with QuickBooks Online, Gusto, and Buildertrend is a plus).
  • Implement best practices and ensure scalability of financial systems as the company grows.

Ideal Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management roles, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Strong command of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and job costing.
  • Expertise in accounting software and cloud-based systems; QuickBooks Online experience required.
  • Buildertrend, Gusto, or similar construction software knowledge is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • High level of integrity, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote work setting.
  • Comfortable operating in a growing, fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
