Job Overview
To manage the oversight and administration of the project cycle for cleaning water and fire damaged commercial and residential properties, for all field activities related to such, including the coordination of subcontracts. This position manages demolition work, structure cleaning, move ins/move outs, water damage claims, carpet and floor cleaning and fire/smoke damage claims.  To prepare accurate and profitable job estimates, converting estimates into successful bids, and plans and manages the resultant projects to successful completion.  To facilitate all field change orders and materials, prepares contract documents, project estimates, supply lists and works closely with the accounting department to ensure proper billing on projects. This is an AT WILL position.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives direction from the General Manager.  Exercises technical and functional supervision over assigned Technician personnel.

 
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
  • Uses industry software to estimate and manage residential and commercial water, fire, wind and mold restoration projects
  • Estimates and manages mitigation projects
  • Bids projects with enough detail to provide accurate budgets and purchase orders
  • Supervises, monitors, and revises all activities associated with the projects and its successful completion by bringing the project in or below budget
  • Monitors job cost reports for assigned projects
  • Prepares and helps determine schedules for manpower utilization and materials delivered to site
  • Tracks and monitors progress while correcting and mitigating any deviations
  • Creates and updates project schedules
  • Manages vendor installations, scopes of work and contract adherence
  • Assists in controlling excessive costs and waste throughout each project
  • Helps to ensure that all assigned personnel are thoroughly trained in their duties and responsibilities, including safety precautions
  • Meets regularly with any assigned personnel to ensure proper information flow and adherence to stated goals and objectives
  • Demonstrates good judgment in investigating problems and making decisions
  • Respects and maintains the confidentiality of company, client, and personnel information
  • Works with General Manager regarding bid document requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to:
    • Work in a team environment with strict deadlines
    • Generate estimates within a reasonable time frame with accuracy and efficiency

    • Keep complete and accurate job files and follow through on projects

    • Update & Maintain information in PSA
    • Time management and organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks
    • Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by log notes in PSA, telephone, in written form, or in person
    • Read and interpret Xactimate estimates
    • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted through the course of work; gain cooperation through discussion and persuasion
    • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; must be proficient in reading and writing the English language
    • Assist in problem solving and in making the Company more effective and efficient
    • Work on call and in emergency situations, as needed
    • Apply general mathematical and data entry skills
    • Produce work in a timely, budgeted, scheduled and profitable manner for the Company
    • Apply safety procedures and principles daily and protect yourself and others from injury
    • Provide exemplary customer services to clients, employees and vendors
    • Work as a team-player willing to perform job duties as needed regardless of job description.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Production work and proficient in time management
    • Creative solution development
    • English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation; basic mathematics
    • Project management practices and/or knowledge of software development and database best practices
    • Fundamentals of timekeeping, scheduling, and general pay procedures for employees
    • Principles and practices of budget preparation, administration, financial management, revenue collection, auditing, controllership, reconciliation and balancing
    • Basic principles and practices of organization and administration
    • Modern office practices and technology, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, copiers, telephone, facsimile, proper filing techniques, etc.
    • Industry software and platforms: Xactimate, Contractor Connection, PSA, Code Blue and other similar programs
    • Restoration industry language, practices and terminology
    • Principles and practices of supervision, training and performance evaluation
    • Company policies and procedures
    • Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations that govern the areas of responsibility for the position, as well as the restoration industry
    • Professional ethics

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING/EDUCATION GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
  • Experience
    • Five years of professional experience in construction/restoration industry in progressively challenging roles, including a minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity or administrative capacity
  • Training/Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Management, Project Management, or Construction Management from an accredited college or university
  • License and Special Requirements:
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid North Carolina state driver's license and satisfactory driving record
    • WRT and ASD certification
    • Knowledge of industry software: Xactimate, About Time, Contractor Connection, PSA, Luxor, Xactimate Analysis, and other similar programs
    • Computer literate with knowledge and experience in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must possess:
    • Mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment
    • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and to visit various partner or meeting sites
    • Accurate vision to read printed materials and a computer screen
    • Ability to communicate in person, in groups and over the telephone
    • Finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, writing implements, office equipment and calculator
    • Ability to occasionally bend, climb or balance, kneel, stoop, walk, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information
    • Ability to lift 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 100 lbs., necessary to perform job functions
    • Ability to use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Employees work in an office environment and outside.  Inside with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.  Employees may interact with upset personnel and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in outside weather conditions, which vary from extreme cold to extreme hot. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.

The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
