Job Overview:
Fairbank Construction Company is hiring a hands-on and highly organized Field Asset Specialistto oversee our tool and equipment inventory, manage our fleet, and ensure our field operations run smoothly and safely. This role blends logistics, maintenance, purchasing, and field support-and is integral to our team's efficiency and success. We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings a solutions-first mindset, even when juggling multiple moving parts.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with construction industry experience-or someone who's eager to grow into the role-to make a measurable impact every day. This position is expected to be 50% billable, with the opportunity to supplement hours with field work as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Shop, Tools, Equipment & Supplies Management
    • Manage tool rental process: inventory, cost tracking, and process enforcement
    • Maintain an organized, safe, and accessible tool and equipment storage facility
    • Inspect returned tools, perform or initiate necessary repairs, and order parts
    • Track tool usage across field crews and prepare monthly rental tool invoicing
    • Procure and distribute PPE and general field supplies
    • Purchase and retire tools based on need and lifecycle
    • Coordinate and support company events held at the shop
    • Handle dump runs and material deliveries as needed
  • Fleet Management
    • Ensure all company vehicles are safe, serviced, and well-documented
    • Coordinate repairs and maintenance with drivers and vendors
    • Track driver authorization and enforce company driving policies
    • Manage tabs and insurance claims in collaboration with the Office Manager
    • Plan vehicle use across projects and recommend vehicle purchases or sales
    • Train drivers and promote a culture of safety and accountability

Required Skills:
  • Exceptional leadership and time/task management
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication-both verbal and written
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong ability to track assets and maintain accurate records
  • Able to work independently while contributing to a team culture

Qualifications:
  • Experience in small tool or vehicle repair
  • Construction background strongly preferred
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Prior safety or asset management experience in construction is a plus

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • Must lift up to 50 pounds overhead
  • Work involves sitting, standing, walking, and climbing
  • Exposure to outdoor elements and construction environments
  • Regular use of personal protective equipment
  • Exposure to dust, noise, confined spaces, and active construction sites

Work Schedule:
  • Part-time, but may be full time with field work capability
  • Monday to Friday

Work Location:
  • Puget Sound Region, WA - Based at the Fairbank Construction shop in Poulsbo with regional support responsibilities
