Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented Site Safety Representative to join our team. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring our construction projects are carried out in strict compliance with safety standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of Cal-OSHA, Fed OSHA, and a strong background in construction safety. This role requires extensive fieldwork, including conducting inspections, investigating incidents, and implementing preventative safety measures.

A primary element of your role as Site Safety Representative is taking a leadership in promoting GLC's safety culture at the field level, ensuring that everyone on the project is properly trained for the work they are about to do, and that they plan for, understand, and practice the highest level of safety in the performance of their work.

You are responsible for ensuring all general IIPP and project specific Safety Programs are actively exercised and documented on your projects, and that each day the requisite safety meeting/training/documentation (PTHA/SPA/JHA/AHA, as applicable) are documented and filed properly. You are responsible for ensuring that all personnel at a given site have the requisite training and documentation for that site, as applicable (i.e., GERT Training at LBNL).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including Cal-OSHA, OSHA, and client specific safety requirements.
  • Have in-depth experience using JHA's; recognizing job site hazards and implementing controls.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and identify root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts safety training, including new hire safety orientation, field safety training for Company and subcontractors, and mandatory training including annual Fall Prevention Training, Forklift & Aerial Lift Certification, Bloodborne Pathogens, Global Harmonization System, Respiratory Protection, and Excavation Trenching.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters, including liaising with regulatory agencies, internal stakeholders, and external contractors.
  • Continually assess potential hazards and develop strategies to eliminate or mitigate risks.
  • Experience in creating and communicating toolbox talks to field employees.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Cal-OSHA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
  • OSHA 30-Construction certified.
  • Proven experience in conducting safety inspections and investigations.
  • Strong understanding of the principles and practices of injury and illness prevention.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively train and mentor others.
  •  Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  •  Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to drive to project sites with company vehicles.

Work Schedule:
Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional additional/off hour work depending on project requirements
